Which Walleye Tournament Circuit is For You? Each circuit has different tournament format that may suit your style. The PWT, Professional Walleye Trail, is associated with the In-Fisherman magazine and the Walleye In-Sider. The PWT tournament uses a Pro/Am format, different partners are drawn for each of the three day of the event. The Pro and the Amateur contestants’ fish together for a maximum boat weight for each day. They change partners on day two and add the day two weight to their previous day one weight. On day three, the contestants with the most weight win. Prizes are awarded in according to the weight accumulated by the Pro’s and the Amateurs. Contact PWT at (218) 829-0620. NAWA, North American Walleye Anglers, is associated with Cabela’s Sportsman’s Quest. NAWA uses a Pro/AM tournament format. Each event is conducted over a three-day period. The contestants change partners on day one and two, a computer draw is used to pair partners. At the end of day two, the top ten contestants based on their individual total weights are again paired by a computer draw for the third and final day of competition. On day three, each Pro/Am team, starts out the day at zero. The top 10 teams are then competing for all the prizes determined by the heaviest weight on final day. NAWA also conducts 2 consecutive one day events at several locations. These events are judged on the teams’ one day total weight. Contact NAWA at 1-800-224-4990. MWC, Masters Walleye Circuit, Inc. is a non-profit corporation. The MWC events are team events, you fish these two-day events with the same partner. Each of 5 events is scheduled to have 200 teams. 105 teams have signed up the fish all 5 of the event in 1999. Team contestants accumulate weight from day one and day two to determine the winners. Team Walleye, a division of the United States Fishing Association,
is also two person team events that are held in each participating state.
Two person teams compete in 5 one day events and 1 two day event
to accumulate points to qualify for a national championship. Cash prizes
are awarded at each event. The teams also are awarded points for each event
that is recorded to determine the teams’ points standing for the current
