The In-Fisherman Professional Walleye
Trail (PWT) is accepting amateur entries. Why is this important for the
outdoorsmen and women in your area?
The PWT amateurs learn a tremendous amount of walleye knowledge
every day they fish with pro anglers. Amateurs sign-up now, then
show-up
and fish three days with three different pros. And, they do it
with the
pro's gear, tackle, bait and in the pro's boat. They even fish
at the pro's
best spots. And, amateurs fish with the pro for the maximum boat-weight,
because it counts for both anglers on their respective score cards.
Amateurs pay $575 per tournament, which entitles them to great prizes.
The winning amateur gets a $15,000 Lund boat/Mercury outboard/Eagle trailer.
If that's not enough, these amateurs soak up so much information
that before long, they're fishing local tournaments, fishing more often,
fishing farther and farther afield, teaching youngsters, joining fishing
clubs, speaking to groups, and eventually turning pro themselves.
They also
become news sources for media.
Amateurs may get more info or enter the PWT by calling headquarters
in Brainerd, Minnesota, 218-829-0620, or logging onto the PWT web site,
www.in-fisherman.com.
PWT tournaments pay big bucks with $50,000 to the pro winner and a
$15,000 boat to the top amateur at each event, with nearly $250,000
paid at
each event. This year, the PWT is split into two divisions, with
the Dee
Zee East Division comprised of Lake Erie, Port Clinton, Ohio, April
17-19;
Lake Winnebago, Oshkosh, Wisconsin, June 19-21; and Saginaw Bay, AuGres,
Michigan, July 31, Aug. 1-2. Amateurs may select one event or
fish several
(or all) tournaments. Many amateurs travel and split costs with
friends.
The West Division kicks off on the Missouri River and Lake Francis
Case at Chamberlain, South Dakota, May 8-10; followed by Leech Lake,
Walker, Minnesota, May 22-24; and Devils Lake, North Dakota, July 10-12.
The PWT predicts this to be the year of "Monster Walleyes."
