MWC ANGLERS
TAKE ON LAKE MICHIGAN'S BAYS DE NOC
Minnetonka, Minn. - Representing 12 states, including Florida, 320 of
the
country's top walleye anglers will take on Lake Michigan's Big and
Little
Bays de Noc at the Lowrance Electronics Cabela's Masters Walleye Circuit
(MWC) Team Walleye Tournament August 24-25.
For the 14th consecutive year, dating back to 1989, the Delta County
Michigan Chamber of Commerce and the Bay de Noc Great Lakes Sport Fishermen
Club will be hosting the event. Festivities will begin August 22nd
with a
barbecue sponsored by Escanaba radio station MIX 106 FM which will
also be
broadcasting continuous tournament news. Proceedings will continue
throughout the weekend, featuring the Delta County Jaycees annual duck
race
and pig roast. Numerous prizes will be given away, including a Harley
Davidson motorcycle. The City of Gladstone, the official tournament
launch
and weigh-in site has rolled out the welcome mat, offering various
concessions, family activities and an evening fireworks display. Local
businesses will showcase recreational vehicles and campers.
The 160 fishing teams will leave from the Gladstone Yacht Club and Kipling
boat ramps at 7:00 a.m. each tournament morning. Weigh-ins will start
at
4:00 p.m. on Saturday and 2:30 p.m. on Sunday. There will be ample
spectator
seating available at the Cabela's weigh-in stage. Nearly $80,000 in
cash
will be paid to the top 35 finishing teams, with $19,000 going to the
winners.
This season's MWC tournaments and championship are featured on The Outdoor
Channel television network, allowing teams to receive national media
recognition. The Bays de Noc tourney will air October 18th at 5:00
p.m. and
October 20th at 9:00 a.m., Eastern Standard Time.
Tournament coverage and related articles also appear in the North American
Fisherman magazine, the official publication of the MWC. All circuit
events
are conducted from Cabela's state-of-the-art, computerized mobile transport
vehicle, which is specifically designed for tournament television coverage.
Additionally, all MWC tournaments will serve as qualifying events to
the
