TYSON FOODS LAUNCHES PROFESSIONAL ANGLING TEAM
MINNEAPOLIS (Oct. 1, 2003) — Tyson Foods – the world’s largest producer
of chicken, beef and pork – announced today the members of its professional
angling team to compete in FLW Outdoors tournaments in 2004. The team comprises
Alfred Williams of Jackson, Miss.; John Crews of Jetersville, Va.; and
Todd Ary of Birmingham, Ala.
In July Tyson announced its partnership with FLW
Outdoors, the world’s leading marketer of competitive fishing. Through
its partnership with FLW Outdoors, the members of Tyson’s angling team
will compete along various FLW Outdoors tournament trails from Tyson-branded
Ranger boats.
Williams, who has fished FLW Outdoors tournaments
since 1996 and was the winner of the 2003 EverStart Series Central Division
event on Sam Rayburn, will glide across waters on three tournament trails
during the 2004 season. He will participate in the Wal-Mart FLW Tour, the
EverStart Series Central Division and the Wal-Mart Bass Fishing League.
Crews has been an FLW Outdoors tournament competitor
since 1995, starting his professional career in the BFL. He began fishing
the EverStart Series Eastern Division in 1999. Crews, who first competed
on the FLW Tour in 2001, fished his highest-ranking season on the tour
this year, placing 34th in the regular season to qualify for his first
FLW Tour Championship. He finished eighth in his inaugural championship
appearance.
Ary has been fishing professionally since 1996 when
he began his career in the BFL. He made his pro debut on the FLW Tour in
2003. Ary had one top-10 finish this year, on Kentucky Lake, and finished
the season in 26th place, securing his spot in the FLW Tour Championship.
For the 2004 season, in addition to the FLW Tour, Ary will focus on the
EverStart Series Northern and Eastern divisions.
FLW Outdoors is the world’s leading marketer of
competitive fishing. It administers the Wal-Mart FLW Tour, the world’s
most lucrative bass-tournament series; the EverStart Series, the pathway
to the Wal-Mart FLW Tour; and the Wal-Mart Bass Fishing League for weekend
