Walker Minn.—For the first time in the events history the 2004 champions of WildSide’s $100,000.00 Evinrude Walleye Classic will be taking home a Evinrude powered LUND boat and Eagle trailer package worth over $25,000.00.  More changes to the 2004 tournament include a limited field, new awards and a festival type weekend are planned for June 5-6 in Walker, MN on the shores of Leech Lake, where anglers will be fishing for the largest payout in the events history.

Fishing the WildSide who organizes the tournament has long been proud of the creative payout format.  It is believed that this team event offers participating teams more chances to win than any other independent team tournament in the country.  Which is easy to understand considering the unique divisions of competition set up within the tournament.  Divisions such as;  Trilene Male/Female Division, GULP! Adult/Child Divison, Abu Garcia All Female Division or the PowerBait Veteran Anglers Division.  Each of these divisions are set up as a tournament within the tournament with their own payout for their respective champions.  

Other awards include the Coleman “Cool Under Pressure” Award and the Beckman Nets “Big Bag” Awards as well as various Big Fish Awards.  Yet the true flavor of this event comes through with awards you could never plan (or maybe desire) to win.  How about winning $1000.00 for finishing in100th Place.  It’s called the Northern Lights Casino & Hotel “Your Lucky Day” award.  Another favorite is the Lowrance Electronics  “You Need Direction” Award where the team who finishes 175th wins GPS and Sonar systems. 

On top of all the special, unique and divisional awards the tournament also has plenty of Door Prizes for everyone who enters including a Grand Door Prize of a Johnson 4-Stroke Outboard.  All total the 2004 Evinrude Walleye Classic will award anglers with over $100,000.00 in 2004.

A new limited field of 200 boats.  “In the past we have had up to five flights of boats.  By narrowing the field to 200 Teams we believe we will be giving all participants a better chance to win cash and prizes while insuring for a smooth take-off and weigh-in process with four flights of 50 boats.  Our goal is to make this tournament fun for everyone”  Stated Fishing the WildSide’s Chip Leer who acts as Tournament Director.  

2004’s weigh-in will again take place under the Huge Lund Boat Tent in City Park, Walker Minnesota and more festivities are planned for public planning to attend.  Lund Boats, Evinrude Outboards in partnership with Resort Marine of Walker will be holding a Boat Show and Test Drive during the tournament.  Public is encouraged to come, look at and drive the new boats and talk with Evinrude and Lund Pro-Staff members about their boating needs.  Families are encouraged to stop by on Sunday June 6th as it is a day designed for kids.  Coleman Outdoor Products will be hosting a Youth Fishing Carnival with plenty of activities, clowns and education about the outdoor environment planned.
