For immediate release: April 18, 2004 Walleye Pros Troll for the Future The National Professional Anglers Association Invite Local Youth Port Clinton, OH. - Local youth are in for a “reel” treat this coming weekend as the Port Clinton area readies to host the major leagues of competitive walleye fishing. Over 120 Pros will be in town to compete in the prestigious Wal-Mart RCL Walleye Tour starting Wednesday, April 28 and running through Saturday, May 1. Professional fishing has grown to unprecedented levels in 2004. Pro anglers from the United States and Canada are competing for prizes that can reach several hundred thousand dollars. Major companies partner with the tournament fishing world to market product and company image to the biggest recreational group in the United States. The National Professional Anglers Association (NPAA), a not-for-profit professional organization, is proud to host the area youth this Saturday, April 24, starting at 6:00 PM at the Ottawa County Visitors Bureau located at 770 SW Catawba Road in Port Clinton. Area youth are invited to meet the Pros, hop into the Pros hi-tech, top-of-the-line boats and learn different aspects of fishing, like how to tie knots, bait hooks, fish biology, boating safety tips and much more. NPAA Pros represent the best of the best and will share their fish-catching tricks with the kids. Jerry Hein, a veteran NPAA walleye Pro in charge of coordinating youth events on behalf of the NPAA says, “We feel very fortunate to have the opportunity to come to the Port Clinton area and interact with the kids. It’s very important that we introduce fishing to kids at an early age.” For more information on this great opportunity for Port Clinton area youth, contact the Ottawa County Visitors Bureau at 800-441-1271 or the NPAA office at 630-845-2766. “Let’s go fishing!”
