BIG STONE LAKE TO HOST $25,955 WAL-MART RCL
WALLEYE LEAGUE EVENT
CORONA, S.D. (June 2, 2004) – The $440,000 Wal-Mart RCL Walleye League
will stage a $25,955 South Dakota Division event on Big Stone Lake June
12. The tournament is the second of three regular-season South Dakota Division
tournaments and will feature as many as 200 walleye anglers fishing for
cash awards and contingency bonuses.
Hartford Beach State Park will host takeoff at 7
a.m. and weigh-in at 3 p.m. The community is encouraged to attend the takeoff
and weigh-in.
One hundred Boater Division competitors and 100
co-anglers constitute a full field, with boaters competing for a top award
of as much as $4,000 based on a full field. The winner can earn as much
as $3,500 cash, and if he is a qualified owner of a Ranger, Crestliner
or Lund boat, he will be awarded a $500 cash contingency bonus. The winning
co-angler can earn as much as $1,750 cash based on a full field, and if
he is a qualified owner of a Ranger, Crestliner or Lund, he could earn
another $250 for a top co-angler award of $2,000.
In RCL League competition, boaters and co-anglers
are randomly paired for the event and fish for a combined boat weight.
Boaters compete against other boaters, and co-anglers compete against other
co-anglers.
Four RCL Walleye League divisions – Michigan, Minnesota,
South Dakota and Wisconsin –each feature two one-day events and one two-day
Super Tournament during the regular season. Every angler who receives weight
credit earns points, with 200 points awarded to the winner, 199 for second,
198 for third, and so on, except for Super Tournaments, which award 300
points to the winner, 299 for second, 298 for third, and so on. These points
determine angler standings.
The top 25 boaters and 25 co-anglers from each RCL
League division advance to the $100,000 Wal-Mart RCL Walleye League Finals,
set for Sept. 2-4 on Bays de Noc in Escanaba, Mich. The top five boaters
and five co-anglers from each division qualify for the $1.4 million Wal-Mart
RCL Walleye Championship if they are a Ranger, Crestliner or Lund owner.
The South Dakota Division season will wrap up with
a Super Tournament presented by Evinrude July 17-18 on Lake Oahe.
