organized by Hooked on Fishing International and sponsored by well-known
corporations that support the Kids All American Fishing Derbies in all 50

Karl Swanson 8 of Homer Ak shows off his prize winning catch Saltwater Division Winner

Karl Swanson, 8, of Homer, AK, shows off his 18 lb 4 oz King Salmon that won him first place in the Saltwater Division of the 2001 Fujifilm “Big Fish” Contest.  The contest, held in conjunction with the Kids All-American Fishing Derby program, won Swanson a $500 U.S. Savings Bond.  Swanson, a fourth grader, caught his fish on salmon eggs.

Young Clint Logue's scaled down stock car was the grand prize for winning
the national Frito-Lay/Pepsi Kids Casting Contest. He participated in a
local casting contest in Decatur, Tex. organized by the U.S. Forest
Service. The national winner's name was picked in a drawing of more than
    100,000 entries.

When her name was drawn, Kacie Julian won the Southwest Airlines "I Caught
a Fish" Contest. The nine-year-old caught her fish at a derby organized by
the Student Fisheries Association of Tennessee Technological University in
Cookeville. She won vouchers for four free round-trip flights on Southwest

    Blake Hochhalter, 11, of Jamestown, N.D., caught a 10-lb., 14-oz. northern
pike to win the Freshwater Division of the Fujifilm "Big Fish" Contest. He
caught the big northern on a "Husky Jerk" lure at a fishing derby hosted by
the Dakota Anglers in Jamestown, N.D.

Karl Swanson, 8, of Homer, Alaska, caught an 18-lb., 4-oz., king salmon to
win the Saltwater Division of the Fujifilm "Big Fish" Contest. He caught
the chinook in a derby organized by the Anchor Point Chamber of Commerce.
Hochhalter and Swanson will each be awarded $500 U.S. Savings Bonds and
special gift boxes of Fujifilm products.

The national Fujifilm, Frito-Lay/Pepsi and Southwest Airlines contests are
special events wrapped into more than 700 Kids All-American Fishing Derbies
held around the country every year with the help of local volunteers.
Hooked on Fishing International (HOFI) announced recently it is conducting
a national search for volunteer adult groups, and public or private
organizations, that want to do something special for young people. In
previous years hosting organizations have included state fish and game
departments, the U.S. Forest Service, parks and recreation departments,
chambers of commerce, YMCAs, fishing clubs, scouting groups, and civic and
service organizations such as the Optimists, Lions, Kiwanis, and Elks.

Qualified organizations can order a kit that includes everything they need
to put on a local fishing derby, even prizes. Organizations can request an
application or additional information on the HOFI web site, www.kids-fishing.com., or request an application by emailing
info@kids-fishing.com or by writing Hooked On Fishing International, P O
Box 660, Ketchum, OK 74349. Requests must be received before December 15,
    2001 for hosting a derby in 2002.

The 2002 season of the Kids All-American Fishing Derby will mark the
