BULL, MOEDE WIN WAL-MART FLW WALLEYE LEAGUE EVENT ON MISSISSIPPI
RIVER BAY CITY, Wis. (May 9, 2005) –
Boater Bradley Bull of Mason City, Iowa and co-angler Mark
Moede of Savage, Minn., combined for a total of five walleyes
weighing 16 pounds, 2 ounces to claim victory at the Wal-Mart
FLW Walleye League Minnesota Division tournament held Saturday
on the Mississippi River. Bull claimed $2,450 plus a $500 bonus
for the win, with Moede earning $1,225. Bull and Moede fished
the Goose Lake backwaters with Rapala #7 Shad Raps and 5-inch
Kalin grubs. The better quality walleyes came on the Shad Raps
in 5 feet of water. Finishing second were Jim Preissner of Hastings,
Minn. ($1,260) and Mike Jungwirth of Arcadia ($630 plus $200
bonus) with four walleyes weighing 15 pounds, 3 ounces. Chuck
Dube of Brooklyn Park, Minn. ($1050) and Terry Barrette of River
Falls ($525) caught five walleyes weighing 15 pounds, 2 ounces
to finish third. Scott Schultz of Watkins, Minn. ($910) and
Mike Slack of Lakeville, Minn. ($455) claimed fourth place with
five walleyes that weighed 15 pounds, 1 ounce. Finishing fifth
were David Domonoske of Waterville, Minn. ($630) and Jason Halfen
of Eau Claire ($315) thanks to a five-walleye catch that weighed
12 pounds, 8 ounces. The Minnesota’ Division’s next event will
be March 28 on Mille Lacs Lake. Boaters and co-anglers who finish
in the top 35 in final points standings in each FLW Walleye
League division will advance to the no-entry-fee $115,000 Wal-Mart
FLW League Finals Sept. 8-10 on the Mississippi River in Winona,
Minn. The winning boater at the finals will receive an Evinrude-or
Yamaha-powered Ranger 621 boat. Every angler who receives weight
credit in a tournament earns points, with 200 points awarded
to the winner, 199 points for second, and so on, except for
Super Tournaments, which award 300 points to the winner, 298
to second, and so on. FLW Walleye League boaters and co-anglers
fish together for a combined boat weight, with boaters competing
against other boaters and co-anglers fishing against other co-anglers.
