RASMUSSEN, SCHUETTE WIN WAL-MART FLW WALLEYE LEAGUE EVENT
ON GREEN BAY MENOMINEE, Mich. (May 16, 2005) – Boater Adam Rasmussen
of Stevens Point, Wis., and co-angler Erwin Schuette of Manitowoc,
Wis., combined for a total of five walleyes weighing 39 pounds,
8 ounces to claim victory at the Wal-Mart FLW Walleye League
Wisconsin Division tournament held Saturday on Green Bay. Rasmussen
claimed $2,485 plus a $500 bonus for the win, with Schuette
earning $1,243. Rasmussen and Schuette worked crawler harnesses
and spinner rigs 10 feet deep in the Oconoto area of the lake.
Finishing second were Terry Seidl of Kaukauna, Wis. ($1,278
plus $400 bonus) and Ryan Elliott of Spring Green, Wis. ($639)
with five walleyes weighing 38 pounds, 13 ounces. James Tiemann
of Marinette, Wis. ($1,065 plus $300 bonus) and Greg Fischer
of Appleton, Wis. ($533) caught five walleyes weighing 37 pounds,
1 ounce to finish third. Clifford Jakusz of Stevens Point, Wis.
($923 plus $250 bonus) and Todd Rieder of Fond Du Lac, Wis.
($461) claimed fourth place with five walleyes that weighed
33 pounds, 9 ounces. Finishing fifth were Joseph Mans of Peshtigo,
Wis. ($639 plus $200 bonus) and Scott Holthe of Holmen, Wis.
($319) thanks to a five-walleye catch that weighed 32 pounds,
9 ounces. The Wisconsin Division’s next event will be June 4
on the Wolf River Chain. Boaters and co-anglers who finish in
the top 35 in final points standings in each FLW Walleye League
division will advance to the no-entry-fee $115,000 Wal-Mart
FLW League Finals Sept. 8-10 on the Mississippi River in Winona,
Minn. The winning boater at the finals will receive an Evinrude-or
Yamaha-powered Ranger 621 boat. Every angler who receives weight
credit in a tournament earns points, with 200 points awarded
to the winner, 199 points for second, and so on, except for
Super Tournaments, which award 300 points to the winner, 298
to second, and so on. FLW Walleye League boaters and co-anglers
fish together for a combined boat weight, with boaters competing
against other boaters and co-anglers fishing against other co-anglers.
