SKERR, KERR WIN WAL-MART FLW WALLEYE LEAGUE EVENT ON SAGINAW
BAY AU GRES, Mich. (July 25, 2005) - Boater Jason Kerr of Holly
and his father, co-angler Terry Kerr of Grand Blanc combined
for a total of five walleyes weighing 30 pounds, to claim victory
at the Wal-Mart FLW Walleye League Michigan Division tournament
held Saturday on Saginaw Bay. Jason claimed $2,520 for the win,
with Terry earning $1,260. The father and son duo were randomly
paired together and called the win a "blessing", as they caught
their walleyes late in the day trolling crawler harnesses in
30 feet of water. Finishing second were Jason Kaniszewski of
Au Gres ($1,296) and Todd Shirkman of Gibraltar ($648) with
five walleyes weighing 27 pounds, 1 ounce. Scott Koenigsfeld
of Three Rivers ($1,080) and John Chapo of Grass Lake ($540)
caught five walleyes weighing 25 pounds, 14 ounces to finish
third. Mike Jurik of Saginaw ($936) and Joseph Manenti of Troy
($468) claimed fourth place with five walleyes that weighed
24 pounds, 8 ounces. Finishing fifth were Keith Krych of Saint
Clair Shores ($648 plus $200 bonus) and Erik Furseth of Okemos
($324) thanks to a five-walleye catch that weighed 22 pounds,
8 ounces. The Michigan Division's next event will be the Super
Tournament presented by Evinrude August 6-7 on Saginaw Bay.
Boaters and co-anglers who finish in the top 35 in final points
standings in each FLW Walleye League division will advance to
the no-entry-fee $115,000 Wal-Mart FLW League Finals Sept. 8-10
