MULTIPLE P.W.T. TOURNAMENT WINNERS
Steve Fellegy (3)
Gary Roach (2)
I had the opportunity to fish with Gary at Saginaw Bay MI P.W.T.
tournament last year what a great learning expierience. Gary gave me a
great training session on how to read graphs and GPS's properly.
Gary also takes great care in the way he prepare's worms prior to use.
Not only does he condition them prior to use , he washes the worms
in the morning so that he is not fumbling with dirty fingers when trying
to put them on crawler harness. He also makes sure that on a three hook
crawler harness that there is a half loop of slack when inserting the hooks.
What does Gary use for trolling rods and reels . He uses Mitchell baitcasters
with trolling rods and a specially designed Mitchell rod 7-1/2 foot
long that telescopes for easy storage between fishing holes. He runs a
19' Lund boat with a 90 H.P. but tiller control even though he also has
a 15 h.p. kicker motor. He prefers this combination even in big water such
as lake Erie or Lake Huron. He is one of the few pros who runs a tiller
handle on the P.W.T tournament trail.

P.W.T. UPDATES
1999 In-Fisherman Professional Walleye Tour Information
The PWT will expand to six qualifying events in 1999. Fields will
be capped at 120 Professional and 120 amateur contestants. Tour invitations
and qualifying for the 1999 PWT Championship will be based on the following
criteria:
PWT Top 75 Pool
The top 75 pro anglers based on the 1998 standings will be invited to compete
in all six qualifying events in 1999
Invitations will be extended to #76,77,78 etc in order until all 75 spots
are filled.
The top 30 anglers by total weight from the top 75 pool will qualify
for the 1999 PWT Championship
If 30th place results in a tie, the first tie breaker is the highest place
in an event, final tiebreaker is a coin toss.
Th In-Fisherman angler of The year title goes to the highest place weight
qualifier from the top 75 pool.
The top 75 pool will be seeded first in the qualifying events.
The top 55 anglers by total weight in the top 75 pool will receive invitations
to compete in the top 75 pool in the year 2000. If a tie occurs for
position # 55 in the top 75 pool, both anglers will be invited to compete
in the top 75 extending the pool by one spot.
If a Pro drops out of the top 75 pool once the season starts, the vacated
position will not be filled
East and West Divisional Pools
The balance of the 120-angler field will be pro’s fishing the East and
or West divisions, each consisting of three qualifying events.
Pro anglers may apply to fish one or both divisions, applications will
be reviewed by the PWT credentials committee.
Successful applicants will be seeded in either the east or west division,
seeded in both divisions or placed on an alternate list.
The top five finishers by total weight in both the East and West divisions
will qualify to compete in the 1999 PWT Championship. Total 10 PWT
Championship spots for divisional Pro’s.
Anglers (non top 75 pool) seeded in both east and west divisions will qualify
in the division in which they place highest. If a pro qualifies in
both divisions in the same place , the highest total weight will determine
the qualifying division, advancing the sixth place finisher in the other
division
If the final qualifying position in either division results in a tie, the
first tie breaker is highest place in an event in the division in which
the tie occurs, final tiebreaker is a coin toss.
The Rookie of the Year Award will go to the angler fishing either the east
or the west division for the first time who finishes with the highest place
average.
The top 10 finishers by total weight in both the East and West divisions
will receive invitations to compete in the top 75 pool in the year 2000.
Mariner Top Amateur
A place (points) system will determine the mariner top amateur winner who
receives an invitation to compete in the 1999 PWT Championship.
Amateurs become eligible to win the Top Amateur award by entering the East,
west or both divisions of the amateur pool.
Amateurs will be awarded points based on their order of finish in either
division. The first place receives one point and last place (based
on a 120-angler field) receives 120 points. The amateur with the
lowest total in either division wins the top amateur award and advances
to the PWT Championship. Amateurs competing in all six qualifying
events have two chances to win (east/west)
In case of a tie between the east and the west divisional winners,
the first tie breaker is the highest place in an event, the final tiebreaker
is a coin toss.
